But we don't have that proof for imessage. In theory, a ton work on binary analysis on ios and imessage could give some assurance (for a few days until apple forces an update). You'd need to break apple's security to even get a copy of the binaries and disassemble them. Free software is the best path to trustworthy software.

If you wonder whether your computer could work with Trisquel GNU/Linux, make a live USB, boot on it, select "Try Trisquel without installing". If all pieces of hardware work (or at least all what you want to use), then you can go with a user-friendly free software only distro with a nice support community.
Pour savoir si ton ordinateur fonctionnerait avec Trisque GNU/Linux, le plus simple est de faire un "live USB", démarrer dessus, choisir "Essayer Trisquel sans installer" et vérifier que tout marche. Si c'est bon, plus qu'à redémarrer et choisir installer cette fois-ci.
